EN 342 Clothing for protection against cold

The protective clothing is worn for working in cold storage facilities and cold environments with temperatures of -5 °C or less. In order to provide optimum protection, the clothing must be worn as a suit (parka and dungarees, blouson and dungarees or overalls). In addition, the corresponding head and hand coverings must be worn, along with protective shoes. In the testing method according to EN 342, heat insulation and air permeability is tested.

The pictogram gives information about the level of protection. The figures below mean, for example, 0.477 (B) resultant thermal insulation measured while standing, performing very light or moderate activities. For the relevant period of use at different ambient temperatures, please refer to the measured value in the following table:
